It's important to stay on top of the information and critical to flood the room for Lawrence hearings/meetings, even though can feel confusing -- perhaps even overwhelming! -- trying to keep track of developments in the ETS and Gulick matters. The reason it's so important was revealed at a recent Planning Board meeting, when a member said the quiet part aloud -- they "read the room," and if not many people show up, they think our interest has waned. We need to show them that they're wrong, we care, and we'll fight!

We realize that it's difficult to fit this into your schedules, especially when there are so many meetings in such a short time span, end-of-school year is occurring with associated graduations and events, summer vacations are starting, etc. Perhaps the town is even counting on this? That's why it's more important than ever that you stay engaged by doing as many of the following as possible:

1. By Sunday, 5/31/26 -- SIGN the petition to get our neighbor Brad Moore on the November Ballot for Town Council.
Events: Get Involved!

SHOW UP. STAY INFORMED. SPEAK UP.

Tonight's Town Council hearing, May 19, 2026 @ 6:30 p.m. will have enormous consequences for ALL residents in Lawrence, as well as nearby Princeton and Hopewell neighbors. The Council will vote on whether to approve Ordinance No. 2511-26, allowing an enormous mega-development -- 800 units + commercial space -- to be built on one of the most significant green spaces in Lawrence. If the town approves this ordinance, it will not only result in irreversible damage to fragile ecosystems of flora and fauna, but also serious negative impacts on health, safety, schools, property taxes and property values.

Tell your friends, neighbors, anyone who might be impacted -- we need to let the township know how this vote will impact its citizens' lives, including:

Increased strain on schools (the 110-unit Gulick project will receive a PILOT tax deal, shifting more school and infrastructure costs onto existing taxpayers).

Pressure on emergency services and public safety: stastical projection of 1,820 cars on local roads + delivery vehicles + commuting service workers, for the ETS development alone, would potentially lead to huge rise in crashes and serious or fatal industries on single-lane roads currently carrying a fraction of that traffic (Rosedale, Province Line, Carter).

Loss of wetlands, wildlife habitat, and open space, including lasting harm to Stony Brook, a Class 1 protected waterway.

Loss of Gulick House, a recognized historic landmark whose "preservation is important to the character of Lawrence Township" because it is "<span style="color:...Read More
